30.03.2026, SWISS Expands Its Air Rail Service by Adding Grindelwald as a New Destination. Together with SBB and Jungfraubahnen, international travelers can now more easily journey into the heart of the Bernese Alps. The connection is available as of today, with tickets already on sale. The SWISS Air Rail offering has now grown to 25 destinations.

Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) and SBB are consistently expanding the successful SWISS Air Rail network. Following the inclusion of Interlaken in December 2022, SWISS is now expanding its offering in the Bernese Oberland to include Grindelwald. This is made possible by a new collaboration with Jungfraubahnen, which operates the train connection between Interlaken and Grindelwald.

The new connection is available immediately. Tickets for the new destination can be booked from March 26th at swiss.com or at any travel agency.

Heike Birlenbach, Chief Customer Officer of SWISS, says: 'Grindelwald and the Jungfrau area represent what many international guests associate with Switzerland: impressive mountain landscapes, nature, and authentic Swiss experiences. Consequently, their appeal is significant – a large portion of our guests travel from abroad, particularly from the UK, the USA, and Asia. This is exactly where our long-haul network connects and brings the world even closer to this region.'

Remo Käser, Head of Marketing and Sales at Jungfraubahnen, adds: 'The Jungfrau region and Jungfraujoch – Top of Europe are among the most visited destinations in Switzerland. We are pleased that the many international guests can now travel even more comfortably and immediately feel at ease in this unique mountain world and discover the highlights of the Jungfrau region.'

With this expansion, the SWISS Air Rail network grows to a total of 25 destinations in Switzerland, Germany, and Austria.

Comfortable travel with numerous advantages

Passengers traveling with SWISS Air Rail benefit from a particularly convenient travel process: All necessary travel documents are provided directly by SWISS. When booking a flight, the desired train station can be specified as the departure or destination point, and the boarding pass is valid for the entire journey. The train ticket is flexible – it can be used either a day before departure or up to a day after arrival. For the new destination Grindelwald and all existing Air Rail connections, SWISS also offers a connection guarantee in the event of delays. Members of Miles & More also earn valuable miles and points with an Air Rail ticket. Guests of SWISS Business and First Class additionally enjoy the journey in SBB's 1st class.
