Brilliant award ceremony at the PostFinance Arena

1,021 young professionals from 92 different occupations participated in the SwissSkills 2025 professional championships in Bern. With dedication, perseverance, and skill, they competed for the Swiss championship title in their profession. The well- deserved reward for their outstanding performances was given to the top three participants per profession last night in the form of a medal during the emotional award ceremony. This was held in front of around 6,000 visitors in the PostFinance Arena.

Federal Councillor Guy Parmelin, who had already visited SwissSkills 2025 on Thursday, did not miss the opportunity to personally congratulate each medal winner during the nearly four-hour ceremony. 'Bravo, you have achieved great things,' said Economics Minister Parmelin, who once completed an apprenticeship as a farmer. 'Passion, skill, professional pride - this is what has moved us in the last few days. And I say it with conviction: your skills are a promise for the future.'

The canton of Bern wins the most medals

The medal tally shows: The most successful canton was Bern with 66 medals, followed by St. Gallen with 34 and Zurich with 28 distinctions. But it's not only about the quantity! Measured by the number of participants, Glarus and Nidwalden performed the best. They are followed by Solothurn and Thurgau, which impressively demonstrate the passion and quality that exist in vocational training in their region. The detailed results can be found here: Results

When the BERNEXPO site becomes a classroom

From Wednesday to Friday, over 65,000 students in 2,100 classes transformed the BERNEXPO site into a lively classroom. Instead of theory in a textbook, there was pure practice here: welding, programming, serving, building, hairstyling. For many, it was the first encounter with professions they had only heard about. The young people were amazed, asked countless questions, and tried out what lies behind these professions at the 'Try a Skill' stations of more than 150 occupations. These encounters make vocational training not only tangible but also emotionally experienceable - impressions that shape the career choice process and have a lasting impact.
