A Context Leading Radio Stations to Seek Alternatives
In Europe, radio stations are under increasing pressure regarding their distribution costs and technical staff. Simultaneously, dependence on non-European distribution platforms presents a concrete control issue: on free platforms, content is monetised through third-party advertisements, and listener data is analysed for advertising profiling purposes.
In this context, Infomaniak offers a sovereign solution, developed and hosted exclusively in Switzerland, within its data centres. Content and listener data fully belong to the stations, and Infomaniak neither monetises them nor uses them for purposes other than the service's operation. Stations maintain full control over their distribution and monetisation.
Among the radio and TV stations already using Infomaniak's streaming infrastructure are: France TV, RFI (Radio France Internationale), Bel RTL, Fun Radio (Belgium), Hit Radio (Morocco), Radio Algérie, as well as Energy and One FM in Switzerland. More than half of the Top 100 of the ACPM (Alliance for Press and Media Figures) in France broadcast via Infomaniak.
An Automated Radio, Easy to Set Up
With the new Auto DJ integrated into Infomaniak's Streaming Radio solution, a station can be operated around the clock without human intervention. The music programming is based on automatic playlists that combine multiple criteria (genre, artist, year, custom tags), allowing the programme to vary without the need to manually select each track. Shows, jingles, and advertising are scheduled in a visual programme grid with fully customisable repetition intervals.
In case of a programming gap, a filler playlist automatically takes over. When a moderator starts their live show, the radio automatically switches over - without technical intervention.
The entire process works directly through a web browser, without an encoder, third-party software, or technical knowledge.
Compatible with DAB+ Distribution and Monetisation
Radio stations can transmit their web radio to the digital distribution provider of their choice without additional bandwidth consumption. Moreover, they can monetise their streams through certified advertising marketers and customise an audio player that can be integrated into their website or mobile app. The entire service is accessible via API.
Pricing for Independent Radio Stations and Large Media Groups
The automated radio function is included in all streaming radio offers at no extra cost. Pricing starts at EUR/CHF 8.10 per month for an initial online radio and extends to customised solutions for professional stations with hundreds of thousands of listeners. The number of simultaneous listeners is unlimited, regardless of the chosen tariff. A free 30-day trial period allows users to explore all functionalities without obligation.
A Comprehensive Ecosystem for Radio and TV Stations
"Infomaniak's Streaming Radio service is robust and long-term stable. What we also highly value at Infomaniak is the human contact; we know we can speak to the teams and get the necessary support, which is very valuable." - Stefano Allocco, Technical Director of the Media One Group, which broadcasts One FM, LFM, Radio LAC, and Carac TV.
This innovation complements the ecosystem of solutions that Infomaniak provides to radio and TV stations. The Video Streaming allows for live broadcasting of events and online TV channels. The high-availability video and audio hosting covers reruns, podcasts, as well as audio and video archives. These services are integrated: Radio and TV stations can archive their live broadcasts in the hosting area, which includes artificial intelligence features like automatic subtitling and the generation of titles and descriptions for repeated content.
